CITY OF GAINESVILLE EAP CONTRACTED STAFF
The independent practices of Drs. Clifton and Valenstein are contracted to provide services through the City of Gainesville Employeee Assistance Program. They also offer their own independent services at our Gainesville office.
C. Russell Clifton, Ph.D.
C. Russell Clifton, Ph.D. has functioned in managerial roles and is well-versed in training and supervising staff. Dr. Clifton entered private practice after serving as a Clinician/Administrator for 9 years at the North Central Florida Community Mental Health Center in Gainesville. He also benefits from 4 years of experience as a past Director of Psychological Services at Grant Center Hospital, a child psychiatric facility.
Dr. Clifton is experienced in forensic expert testimony, and has provided testimony in Baker Act Hearings, juvenile justice cases, custody proceedings and child welfare cases.
Dr. Clifton has been active in the Gainesville and Alachua County community. Dr. Clifton served on the original Alachua County Child Abuse Committee and was one of the original trainers for the Guardian Ad Litem Program. He has served as President of the N. Central Florida Chapter of the Florida Psychological Association, the Alachua Chapter of ChaDD, and has been active in his church and the Cross Country Boosters at Eastside High School.
Candace Valenstein, Ph.D.
Candace Valenstein, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who has past training as an R.N. She has conducted research in drug use and in the interpersonal styles of chronic pain and depressed patients.
Dr. Valenstein has expertise in treating a variety of clinical conditions including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has expertise in marital issues, divorce, and marital therapy.
Dr. Valenstein is a Certified Family Court Mediator and served for five years as Co-President of the North Central Florida Mediation Council. She has past experience in providing EAP services to the Gainesville Police Department and Alachua Sheriff’s Office and five years of experience with the City of Gainesville EAP.
Dr. Valenstein’s expertise in assessment and therapy is highlighted by her past positions as a Visiting Assistant Professor and as Teaching Consultant in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at U.F. and in her teaching and supervision of clinical psychology graduate students.
FRONT OFFICE STAFF
A stable and knowledgeable staff is critical to providing referrals with a sense of comfort and confidence for patients and referral sources. Patient ratings have justified the high level of confidence CPANCF has in it’s support staff.
Ms. Jackie Herring has been the CPANCF full-time office manager for 12 years.
Ms. Linda Sloan serves as the office manager for Drs. Clifton and Valenstein.
PSYCHOLOGY ASSISTANTS
We have had the pleasure to have trained and supervised a number of assistants over the years, many of whom have gone on to graduate school and careers in psychology and neuropsychology.
