Candace Valenstein, Ph.D.
Candace Valenstein, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who has provided services under the current City of Gainesville contract for the past 5 years. Dr. Valenstein has doctoral training in clinical and health psychology as well as past healthcare training as an R.N. She has conducted research in drug use and in the interpersonal styles of chronic pain and depressed patients.
Dr. Valenstein has expertise in treating a variety of clinical conditions including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She has expertise in marital issues, divorce, and marital therapy. She conducts custody evaluations as part of a team with C. Russell Clifton, Ph.D.
Dr. Valenstein is a Certified Family Court Mediator and served for five years as Co-President of the North Central Florida Mediation Council. She has past experience in providing EAP services to the Gainesville Police Department and Alachua Sheriff's Office and five years of experience with the City of Gainesville EAP.
Dr. Valenstein's expertise in assessment and therapy is highlighted by her past positions as a Visiting Assistant Professor and as Teaching Consultant in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at U.F. and in her teaching and supervision of clinical psychology graduate students.
